Dr. Litzy Galarza, Assistant Professor of Communication, has two new book chapters out and a full book on the way!
Her chapter "The Tragic Denial of Citizenship in On My Block's Quinceañera" appears in Quinceañeras: Latinidades and Girlhood in Popular Culture (University of Illinois Press). Dr. Galarza also co-authored "Indigenizing Free Expression in Oklahoma" (with K.R. Kemper) in Storytelling Sovereignty: Indigenous Peoples and the Media (University of Oklahoma Press).
Both chapters arrive ahead of her Dr. Galarza’s forthcoming book, Jane the Citizen: Conditional Belonging and Latinx Representation on TV (University of Arizona Press), which examines the CW's Jane the Virgin through the lens of citizenship and belonging. Available for pre-order now, publishing March 2027.
