John Jasso awarded Top Student Paper Prize

This year’s Top Student Paper Prize goes to John Jasso, an ABD graduate student at the University of Pittsburgh, for his essay, “Archaic Argument:Connecting Aristotle’s Rhetoric to the Problem of First Principles.” This highly ambitious paper argues that “particular aspects of the Rhetoric assign to rhetorical practice certain attributes that are uniquely related to first principles” that Aristotle outlines in the Analytics and the Topics. In doing so, John impressively enters into and extends scholarly conversations about metaphor’s role in Aristotelian analytic, dialectic, and rhetoric. You can see more about it here.
