Pitt Partnering with The Why? On Police Debate

On November the 8th, the William Pitt Debating Union will be joining with a local non-profit, The Why?, to host a debate about police oversight. The debate will be in a town hall format, and local high school students will be in attendance. Breaks in the action will give students an opportunity to write and submit questions to the participants.

The topic of the debate is police oversight. In light of recent national and local controversies related to police exercise of force, the debaters and audience will consider a number of questions, including the scope of the problem, appropriate remedies, and the appropriate role of communities and citizens in relationship to law enforcement.
