The Robert P. Newman Debate Fund

This endowed fund, created by a generous gift from WPDU alumni Dan and Harriet Levitt, is designed to support the current director of debate's efforts in guiding the team on a path consistent with the vision of the legendary Robert P. Newman, director of debate at the University of Pittsburgh from 1952-1967. The fund is currently open and designed to reach maturity with significant gifts in the years to come.

The Marcella L. Finegold Public Debate Fund

WPDU alumna Marcella Finegold established an annual public debate series with a generous gift that now supports a budget for convening a special event each year that showcases student debaters, involves expert advocates in discussion of a salient community issue, and yields a debate transcript suitable for publication in a historical monograph.

The Friends of Debate Fund

This non-endowed account provides financial resources for short-term WPDU expenses such as plane tickets, equipment replacement, and office improvements. Contributors to this fund know that their gifts have an immediate and positive impact.
